“BTS GOT NOMINATED,” was a trending Twitter topic on Tuesday, November 24th as BTS, the first Korean group ever to get nominated at the 63rd Annual Grammy Nominations.
The seven-member South Korean Pop group BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondeon, secured their first-ever Grammy nomination for their hit single ‘Dynamite’ in the category “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.”
BBMA’s 2017 was BTS’ big break into the western market. They had won “Top Social Artist” and proceeded to rack on other major awards including: “Favorite Duo or Group Pop/Rock” (AMAs 2019), “The Album of 2020” (E! People’s Choice Awards 2020), and their latest album “BE” earned the fifth number 1 rating on Billboard’s top 200 charts.
Members RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook showed their gratitude and excitement through a nineteen second Twitter video. An abundance of tweets was posted later to thank their fandom “ARMY” and the Recording Academy.
Suga, the lead rapper and producer of BTS, has stated some of their goals upon entering the US include entering the Billboard charts, topping the Billboards 100 chart, being nominated for a Grammy, and winning a Grammy. Three of which have already been achieved. The Grammys, one of the most prestigious music awards, is the final achievement for BTS as they conquer the music industry.
“I think the Grammys are the final part of the whole American journey,” says RM, the leader of BTS.
From sold-out stadiums all over the globe to countless number ones on Billboard top 100 and now the Grammys, it makes us wonder, what else does BTS have in store?
